As one of the Societies under the The Arts Society umbrella we strive to follow its stated aim:

“The Association shall have as its objects the promotion and advancement of the aesthetic education of the public, the cultivation, appreciation and the study of the decorative fine arts and the giving of aid for the preservation of our national and artistic heritage for the benefit of the public”.

On Tyneside we try to achieve that aim in various ways. Our inspiring monthly lecture programme covers a wide range of diverse topics including fine art, china, glass, music, architecture and textiles all from recognised experts in their respective fields. Each season we have a series of ten lectures running from September to June. The single annual membership fee gives each member access to every lecture as well as the Arts Society Magazine published four times a year.

In addition we organise Visits and Days  of Special Interest. We have  a flourishing Community Arts Programme and we work with our friends in Hexham  on Church Recording.

We are  looking for people join us in every activity. Details of all these activities can be found on other pages throughout this website.
